How Do Clear Aligners Work?

Clear aligners offer a discreet and effective way to straighten teeth without the metal brackets and wires of traditional braces. The system uses a series of custom-made, removable plastic trays that fit snugly over your teeth. Each aligner is slightly different from the last, applying gentle, consistent pressure to guide your teeth into their ideal positions.

You will wear each set of aligners for about 20 hours a day, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Approximately every two weeks, you will switch to the next set in the series. The total length of your treatment will depend on your specific orthodontic needs, but it can range anywhere from six months to two years.

Our in-house aligner process begins with a perfect digital impression. We use an advanced intraoral scanner—a small, handheld wand—to capture a highly accurate 3D model of your teeth and gums. This radiation-free laser scan is completely painless and remarkably fast, typically taking only five to ten minutes.

The best part? No more goopy, uncomfortable impression trays that can make patients gag. The digital scan is a comfortable, stress-free experience. The resulting 3D model appears instantly on our computer screen, allowing Dr. Rosenzweig to design your treatment and even show you a simulation of your final results.

3D Printing for Custom Aligners

Once your digital scan is complete and Dr. Rosenzweig has meticulously planned your treatment path, we bring your aligners to life with our in-office 3D printer. Using your digital files, we print a series of models representing each stage of your tooth movement.

From these precise 3D models, our specialized equipment fabricates your custom clear aligners. Each tray is perfectly tailored to fit your teeth and execute the specific movements needed for that stage of your treatment. This seamless integration of digital scanning and 3D printing gives us unparalleled control over the quality and fit of every aligner we produce.
